Ceccato Colombo Ltd. was established in 2002 in Colombo to fulfill the demand for Italian gelato in Sri Lanka, leading to the creation of IL GELATO. The inaugural shop opened at Odel Ward Place, where it continues to delight gelato with the country's most extensive flavor selection.

Currently, IL GELATO has grown to four locations along the west coast, including two in the capital city, one in the historicalle Fort, and another in Negombo.

Following the success of IL GELATO, Ceccato Colombo embarked on a new venture in Italian dining, launching a series of restaurants throughout the capital. The latest addition, LAGO TROPICAL ITALIAN BISTRO, offers a variety of Italian classics, including Neapolitan pizza, homemade pasta, and, of course, IL GELATO.

Ceccato Colombo's journey in the food and beverage industry expanded beyond gelaterias and restaurants. Since 2015, the company has also ventured into imports, establishing itself as a leading name in Sri Lanka for high-quality Italian products, including brands such as Illy Coffee, Acqua San Pellegrino, Riscossa pasta, andlio Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
