Ceccato Colombo Ltd. was founded in 2002 with a simple yet ambitious vision: to bring the authentic taste of Italian gelato to Sri Lanka. What started as a single shop—Il Gelato—quickly became a household name, offering the country’s widest selection of handcrafted gelato flavors, made with time-honored techniques and the finest ingredients.
 
Over the years, Il Gelato has grown beyond its origins, now proudly serving several locations along Sri Lanka’s west coast, including Colombo, Galle Fort, and Negombo. As part of our journey, we introduced Il Caffè, a modern Italian café concept that blends Illy coffee, artisanal pastries, street-style Italian pizza, and, of course, our signature gelato.
 
Driven by our passion for Italian gastronomy, Ceccato Colombo expanded further into the restaurant scene, opening a series of restaurants in various locations in Colombo. The latest venture is located within Colombo City Center Mall, called Lago Tropical Italian Bistro.
 
Beyond our own establishments, Ceccato Colombo has become a trusted importer and distributor of premium Italian products, supplying top-tier brands such as Illy Coffee and coffee machines, San Pellegrino sparkling water, Extra Virgin olive oil, pasta, tomato based products, and specialty flours. Our mission is simple: to bring the finest flavors of Italy to Sri Lanka, whether through gelato, coffee, dining, or premium ingredients for home and restaurant use.
